Humans account for the largest portion of the “intelligent” species. Their curiosity and propensity to build their technologies on those they find—not to mention their absorption of others' ideas—resulted in their almost virulent spread.
Humans in Gaeana have appearances as varied as those on Earth. However, the two primary races are Asean and Cur. Both average 150 – 180 cm (4'11” – 5'10”) in height. Weight is variable by individual, but typically falls between 45 – 72 kg (100 – 160 lbs.). Aseans are generally of light or medium complexion. Their hair colors range from black to blond. Each region of their homelands, Asea, has its own common combinations. Cur generally have an olive complexion. The more rural-dwelling Cur can be quite dark. Their hair color is generally black or brown and eye color is typically brown. A few families are known to have green eyes.
There are four major divisions of the Asea subcontinent. These divisions have always been present, but have been enhanced since the fall of the Erim Empire.
In all regions the people recognize and respect Houses—they are important to the fabric of society. Each house is a family all descended from a single individual. The status of Househead or Head of the House may be granted by royal decree for most valuable service. Thereafter all descendants, heirs and spouses in the Househead's lineage are—by default—of their patron ancestor's house. The houses are nobility, second in rank only to royalty.
The cur are found throughout Na'Ilia. In the western mountainous region they refer to their lands as Náres. In the eastern savanna regions they call their land Curinn. All cur are extremely spiritual and most live in accordance with principles that we best understand as “carpe diem.” Ishua, their main god and creator of all, is a happy figure. He laughs, dances and sings throughout the stories of him. This idea of merriment's importance is prevalent throughout all cur lands. Wine and spirits are imbibed with frequency. It is always a good time to seize life.
